TIM Sills hailed Wimborne Town’s 8-1 mauling of Weymouth in the Dorset Senior Cup as “another step in the right direction” for his team.
After four previous postponements, the tie finally took place on the 3G at New Cuthbury.
Terras brought a young side across Dorset for the tie, and while Wimborne also rang the changes, they proved far too strong.
The game was locked at 1-1 after half an hour, before Sills’s side pulled clear with Harry Baker, Cameron Munn (2), Matty Burrows, Jack Hoey (2) and Addwell Chipangura (2) on the scoresheet.
Reflecting on the victory, boss Sills told the Daily Echo: “We haven’t got the biggest squad at the moment, but it also gave me a chance to give people minutes who haven’t had it.
“It gave them a chance to stake their claim for a shirt and it gives me a chance to have a look at some of the young lads and reserves, who have been doing so well this season.
“It was a productive evening, finally got it done at the fifth time of asking.”
He added: “On Saturday we stumbled a little bit, with the draw at home (against Bemerton Heath Harlequins).
“Tuesday night gave us the chance to put that behind us and put in a very good performance.
“We got a few goals, confidence will be high. Confidence should be high anyway with this group.
“It’s just another step in the right direction.
“It’s a competition that gives us a chance to rotate the squad, which is great, to still be in it and have another game to do that.”
Wimborne progress into the quarter-finals, where they travel to holders Poole Town next month.
The winners of that tie will then go to Shaftesbury in the last four.
