A CHARITY has asked businesses and locals to donate Easter eggs that will go to disadvantaged children.

Ferndown charity, Little Lives UK, is urging businesses and residents to help spread joy and give disadvantaged something sweet.

The charity hopes to create a memorable and joyful Easter experience for children facing adversity.

Little Lives UK social media manager, Sophie Matthews, said: "It's not just about giving the children loads of chocolate treats which will obviously bring them happiness, we want to create moments of joy and foster a sense of community around Dorset as well.

"We want to distribute the eggs across Dorset to food banks, children's hospices, charities and a lots of others. We've already had donations but the more the better."

Little Lives UK was founded in 2017 by Krisztina Schafler and Frantisek Helmeczy to support organisations who run projects to support vulnerable and disadvantaged children across the country.

Now on a national level, the charity still works hard to give to the Dorset area and hopes businesses and locals will donate Easter eggs to those in need.

Sophie said: "We work with a lot of organisations that support vulnerable and disadvantaged children so we know there is a need for some extra joy.

"These children often don't have a lot so we hope this can give them a little boost and bring some smiles."

Little Lives has asked donations to be delivered to their building on Nimrod Way, Wimborne, and has said they will also collect large donations from businesses.

The eggs will be given to children on March 20 which is the international day of happiness.

Sophie said: "This is our first year doing this scheme and we hope it can be successful.

"We're working on building interest around it and if businesses and individuals don't have time to go out and shop for Easter eggs, we would for them to make financial contributions."

Beyond egg or financial donation, the charity has asked people to spread the word and hope to build on the what has already been collected.
