RESIDENTS are being warned to stay away from a coastline because of an "ongoing landslip".
Dorset Council has asked residents to stay away from the cliff edge in Swanage, between the Grand Hotel, in Burlington Road and Ocean Bay, in nearby Ulwell Road.
A spokesman for Dorset Council said: "There is an ongoing landslip in Swanage along the promenade between the Grand Hotel and Ocean Bay.
"Please stay away from the area for your own safety.
"Rockfalls and landslips can happen at any time. If you are out on the coast, please stay safe by taking notice of warning signs and keep to existing paths.
"Stay away from the edge and the base of cliffs."
Earlier last January along Purbeck's stretch of the Jurassic Coast, there was a landslip along the path at Houns Tout, in between Worth Matravers and Kimmeridge.
Dorset Council had to close the pathway as it was deemed "completely unusable".
In 2021, there was another landslide in the Highcliffe Road area of Swanage, also in the same area as the current slip.
A Swanage Coastguard spokesperson said a section of a garden had given away and fallen mostly behind the beach huts although some debris had landed on the roofs of the huts.
