POLICE have raised concerns about a Bournemouth nightclub which wishes to stay open for longer hours.
Bosses of The Vibe, in the Triangle, have applied to BCP Council to extend the venue’s opening hours from 3.30am to 5am.
But Dorset Police has requested the venue be brought before a council sub committee to review the request.
Dorset Police’s licensing officer Vanessa Rosales said the Triangle “already experiences a “disproportionate number of street drinkers, anti-social behaviour and crime and disorder”.
In a letter to the council, Ms Rosales warned: “Later opening hours contribute significantly to this issue, which will likely lead to this premises being used by customers leaving other premises during the early hours of the morning who may otherwise have dispersed and left the area.”
The police’s objections will be discussed at a meeting on Wednesday, February 28 when a decision on the application will be made.
It is not the first time The Vibe owners, trading as Ratio Bar Limited, have sought a later closing time.
Before the club officially opened in July 2023, the owners submitted a licensing application requesting to keep the venue open until 5am daily.
Dorset Police formally objected to the application and voiced concerns at a BCP Council licensing sub-committee meeting in February that year.
