WHAT could the proposed 20mph default speed limit look like in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole?
BCP Council has provided a map highlighting which roads, or more so areas, would be subject to a slower speed limit.
Full approval would need to be given ahead of any changes and that would include a consultation with residents, the authority has promised.
The map highlights in purple the proposed delivery areas for 20mph speed limits.
This includes most residential areas: for example, the whole of West Howe, Kinson and Winton. These would all be treated as priority roads, should 20mph zones be rolled out.
Across the conurbation, there are already a small number of wards where 20mph is the default limit, including in Newtown and Heatherlands, Poole Town and Burton in Christchurch.
Primary roads, major roads including Wallisdown Road, Talbot Avenue, Dorset Way and Alder Road, are all marked in red.
Meanwhile roads marked as a ‘secondary distributor network’ are green and are down the list of priorities for 20mph.
