POOLE RNLI has worked with Arts University Bournemouth students to create the second annual Float to Live festival.

The festival on March 9 has a number of events set to be held on the day which have been created by 16 second year students on AUB's event marketing course.

Float to Live head of marketing Emma Carter said: "We're raising money specifically for Poole Lifeboat Station so it's going specifically to held our local community which is great.

"Each group of students have given and pitched their idea to RNLI Poole's press officer and she was very up for all the ideas and excited for what we came up with. We've had a lot of freedom."

The festival will be spread across the Poole area with five events set to occur on the night with something for everyone.

This includes a casino night at Henning's Wharf, Poole Quay, a candlelit choir performance at St James' Church, Poole, an interactive pirate themed meal with Captain Scotch Bonnet at The King's Head, Poole and a raffle with prizes worth £2,000.

Press officer at RNLI Poole, Anne-Marie Clark said: "If the students can help spread the float to live message to other youngsters and people that will listen, that's great. They're the future and the ones who will continue live saving.

"I hope people come and support them because they've worked incredibly hard and you're moulding their futures and the business involved have been great."

Several members of the RNLI crew have agreed to be involved in events, including RNLI Poole veteran, Gerald, who helped the students raise £500 at the Dolphin Centre on February 17.

The festival hopes to raise £5,000 for the charity while also celebrate 200 years since the RNLI was first established.

Anne-Marie said: "The students have worked their socks off and are trying to encourage people to get there and support us."
