A NEW design and print store has opened in Bournemouth in collaboration with a motorcycle workshop.

Hampshire Design Studios (HDS) has opened a satellite called The Merch Shop in Christchurch Road, along with motorcycle workshop and café, The Old Boys.

The Waterlooville-based business has moved to Bournemouth to help The Old Boys establish a brand while to hoping to continue to build clients in the area.

Co-owner of HDS, William 'Smiffy' Smiff, 53, said: "The Old Boys has been following our studio and had seen what we had done for other companies and said, we need your help.

"Our initial meeting was three or fours weeks ago and they asked us to come in and design their merchandise so that's how we sort of landed here."

Since the first meeting in February, both Smiffy and his wife and business partner, Nora Smiff, 36, have worked tirelessly to get the office ready.

Stripping all the wallpaper off, repainting, and putting up a sign outside the store, the couple have said they are ready to help businesses in Dorset build their brand.

Smiffy said: "We've had customers here for 15 to 20 years so we're not new to the area but, even in Hampshire, we're the best kept secret.

"People will say, 'Hampshire Design Studios? Never heard of them', well you know all the signs at McDonald's? We do all of those, all the nurses uniforms and all the signs in the NHS and hospitals."

Both Smiffy and Nora are also keen to establish themselves within local communities and charities.

HDS has given branded t-shirts and items free of charge to several charities with the aim to solely help their cause in the best way they can.

Nora said: "It would be great to start getting into charities and community groups because we've done that really well in the past.

"Now that's what we're doing here, being able to speak to people and make a difference with events that are here and other groups."

HDS prides itself in being able to deliver personable service, able to supply small quantity orders.
