A PERSON was taken to hospital after their kitchen appliance caught on fire in the early hours of the morning.
Two fire crews from Swanage and Wareham worked to extinguish the blaze which involved a freezer at a home in Battlemead.
The fire was mostly out on arrival, but the property was filled with smoke.
The cause of the fire was the freezer.
A person was taken to the hospital for treatment for mild smoke inhalation.
A spokesperson for DWFRS said: “We were called to a property in Battlemead, Corfe Castle at 1.42am this morning (7 March) for a fire involving a freezer in a rear utility room.
“Two crews attended, from Swanage and Wareham, and moved the freezer outside where it was damped down to prevent any reignition.
“The occupier had suffered some smoke inhalation so went to the hospital for precautionary checks.
“Our stop was at 2.20am.”
