THE next stage of a £372,000 project to renovate sewers in Bournemouth will begin next week.
A road closure will need to be put in place along Throop Road, between Mill Road and Yeomans Road in the village of Throop, from Monday, March 11.
Wessex Water will be carrying out improvement work to the system and pipes underground, which is expected to take a month to complete.
It means the road will be closed until April 5.
A Wessex Water spokesman said: “This is the second stage of a £372,000 project to renovate sewers in the Holdenhurst area, the first phase of which was completed last summer.
“Starting next Monday (11 March), a rolling road closure will be in place along Throop Road, between Mill Road and Yeomans Road.
“A diversion, using Throop Road, Broadway Lane, Shillingstone Drive, Muscliffe Lane, Castle Lane West and Ibbertson Road will be in place and to help HGV access at Blue Roof Farm during the closure, no waiting cones will be installed along Taylor Drive.
“We have written to customers and businesses throughout the area to advise them about this essential work to protect the sewer network, which is expected to be finished by Friday 5 April. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.’’
In September, Wessex Water started work on a £30 million project at its water recycling centre in Holdenhurst to expand its storage capacity by 40 per cent.
The firm said it will ensure it can meet the sewage treatment needs of a growing population as well as remove more phosphorus and other nutrients from wastewater.
Wessex Water also became the first UK company to publish data on an intelligence app developed notifying of storm overflow operations at bathing waters and other recreational areas throughout the year.
