RESIDENTS have been told to “take action now” as flood alerts are issued across the conurbation.
Alerts are in place this morning for parts of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
In Poole, there is a flood alert for Poole Harbour and tidal stretches of the Lower Frome and River Piddle.
It has been issued for the morning tide at 10.45am, with flooding possible two hours either side of this time.
High water levels in the harbour are forecast, and sea spray and flooding to roads and low-lying land is possible.
Higher than normal tides are also expected up to and including the morning tide of March 15.
The Environment Agency has said it will continue to monitor the forecast and issue alerts where necessary.
A flood alert is also in place for Christchurch Harbour and tidal stretches of the Lower Stour and Avon.
It has been issued for the morning tide at 10.45am, with flooding possible two hours either side of this time.
Here, sea spray and flooding to roads and low-lying land is possible.
A further alert for the East Coast of Dorset has been issued, where this morning’s tide is higher than normal.
Areas included in the alert are Swanage Bay, Studland Bay, Sandbanks, Bournemouth Beach and Hengistbury Head.
The Environment Agency said: “Please be careful along beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads as large waves and sea spray could be dangerous.
“People in the areas should consider taking action now.
“We urge all people to take care and not drive through flood water.”
