AN INQUEST has opened into the death of a married couple from Poole who suddenly died on a family holiday to the Caribbean.
David John and Rosalind Forster were spending time with their daughter and son-in-law in Grenada when they both unexpectedly died.
Area coroner for Dorset, Brendan Allen, opened the inquest into their deaths at Bournemouth Town Hall on March 26.
Coroner’s officer, Nicola Muller, told Dorset Coroner’s Court that the married couple were both aged 76 and born in Newcastle upon Tyne.
She said David was a retired project manager and Rosalind a retired administrator, with the pair living in The Avenue in Poole at the time of their deaths.
On March 9, 2024, the family were walking back from lunch along the water’s edge near the village of L’Esterre in Carriacou, part of Grenada, when David collapsed.
Rosalind tried to assist but became unresponsive.
The couple were later formally identified by funeral directors.
A post-mortem examination conducted by Dr Adel Muhaisen found the provisional cause of their deaths to be unascertained.
Mr Allen adjourned the hearing for a pre-inquest review on September 11.
He requested statements from David and Rosalind’s family, GPs and enquires from the Foreign Commonwealth Office.
