ENIGMATIC Pirates rider Adam Skornicki is determined to bring his Polish Championship-winning form to Britain and help Poole re-stock their trophy cabinet.
He recorded four paid five points, as the Dorset side grabbed an incredible 45-45 draw in the Knockout Cup Semi-final First Leg at Coventry last night.
Despite two ducks and a third in his opening outings, Skornicki produced a huge victory in heat 14 to help put Pirates firmly in charge of the tie.
Without his powerful pass on Bees racer Billy Janniro to snatch the lead, Poole could have left Brandon undeservedly beaten.
But Skornicki was determined to ensure his team-mates got their just rewards for a rock solid display.
He said: "The night started really hard for me and I knew it was a tough situation for the team going into heat 14.
"So I put in 100 per cent effort, won the race and I'm really happy that we drew the meeting.
"I knew the team deserved a good performance from me and I'm happy I managed to do it.
"We got the result, performed very well and I'm glad I didn't let them down."
For Skornicki's Polish fans, watching him record just paid five would probably come as quite a surprise.
He destroyed a field of Grand Prix and World Team Cup stars to take his national title with a 15-point maximum at Leszno last Saturday.
This left the cult hero's considerable British following longing for a repeat performance at Coventry.
And while Skornicki was unable to deliver last night, he is determined to build on winning the Polish crown by boosting his up-and-down Poole form.
He added: "I feel good - I'm scoring great points in Poland and my club Poznan are challenging for top spot.
"It has been a good season for me but I'm just a little worried about my form in Britain.
"I'll get on it, though, and hopefully, I'll be sorted soon and back to how I was performing at the beginning of this year.
"I struggle sometimes and there have been times where I haven't been making the right set-up decisions at the beginning of the meetings.
"But I'm sure I can get there."
With Skornicki celebrating his Polish title win, one could argue the 31-year-old has already surpassed himself this season.
However, he is hunting for team championship gold on two fronts.
His Polish Division One side Poznan is firmly in contention for glory and could challenge for top flight promotion.
Meanwhile, the Pirates are battling hard at the Elite League summit and look set to reach the Knockout Cup final.
These silverware battles are keeping Skornicki firmly on his toes and he is determined to cap an unforgettable season by helping Poole re-capture the league and cup trophies they have not won since 2004.
He added: "It was an amazing feeling to go down as a Polish champion - it's something unbelievable.
"Beating such a good field that night was a big, big thing for me.
"But winning a championship with Poole too would be a great feeling - that would make it an amazing year for me."
