A COMMUNITY group is organising a town-wide spring clean, and wants as many people as possible to get involved.
Group organiser, Simone Ippolito, said: “That doesn't mean that we are going to go to a specific place.
“That means that every member of the community, they will go outside their house, on their road and clean a piece of their road or the whole road as much as they want or can.”
The group encouraged everybody to join in and take part, and it has got some tools that can be given to people who need them for the clean.
It has also met with the council to try to find a solution to clear away the waste and rubbish collected from the clean so that nothing is left behind and the road is left clean.
“What we're trying to achieve, the end goal of the group is not to be the sole group does these things,” Simone said.
“There are a million other groups that do quite a lot of these things already.
“It's more to get people with the mindset of thinking, actually, if everybody contributes a little towards anything that we are able to contribute, again, we will all live in a better place.
“Start by doing the little things, get empowered by it, feel the benefit of it yourself.
“With spring cleaning outside your house, imagine if three, four houses sold next to each other have done it, you will all live in a better neighbourhood and all it took was 2 hours of your time in a year, in a month, in a week, however you want to spread it out, it’s a start.”
The group has continued to grow since its inception in January, passing 700 members on its Facebook group, and it is set to get an advertising slot on Bournemouth pier’s screen to promote its work.
Simone added: “We need ideas to support, and we need encouragement from more and more people seeing the benefits of what we're doing.
“So, let's keep on pushing in the right direction.”
