A NEW attempt to redevelop land behind AFC Bournemouth's Dean Court stadium is being made.

Developers Parkcrest Construction have come back with a revised plan to build 10 homes on land behind the East Stand.

Its original bid - which was going to see some of the profits ploughed back into the cash-strapped football club - was turned down by both Bournemouth council and an appeals inspector.

The new planning application seeks to build 10 semi-detached and detached homes and demolish an existing house in Thistlebarrow Road to provide an access road.

In information provided to the council, Parkcrest's agent, Planning Solutions, claims it has addressed the reasons why the previous application was refused. It has altered the layouts of the proposed homes, created pedestrian access routes and pathways and is proposing a comprehensive new landscaping scheme.

It says the close proximity to the football club is unlikely to prove a problem for future residents because the stadium is only primarily used on Saturday afternoons during the football season.

A spokesman for Planning Solutions said: "We have spent time re-looking at it all in minute detail and seeing what could be improved, what worked and what didn't. We are confident the result is a good planning application, which can be approved."

The redevelopment site played a prominent part in the negotiations to try and bring AFC Bournemouth out of administration.

One-time bidder Alan Pither was said to have secured a deal to buy the piece of land in question, along with the option for a hotel development and new stand at the South Stand end.

But Parkcrest has stressed it would only be willing to sell the land and option at cost price if there were assurances that the club would benefit from any future development.
