The Bachelors: Pier Theatre, Bournemouth.
Why wait for Charmaine when there's always Marie, Ramona, Diane and all the others.
Anyone who remembers the sixties will know those girls' names as the titles of the Bachelor's hits that followed one after another. Originally part of a trio, Dec and Con Cluskey, if not strictly still eligible - being both married with seven offspring between them - have certainly proved durable, their latest album featuring those popular early numbers surprisingly being a current best-seller.
Making their own splash on a storm bashed pier the brothers 50 years of perfected professionalism made for an enjoyable night. Accomplished on guitar and harmonicas, along with their own hits, which apart from their dating' songbook included such favou-rites as I Believe and Faraway Places. Con's emotional style and still impressively strong voice was particularly good with REM's Sometimes and Elton John's Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me.
