A MAN died in hospital from sepsis following “intravenous drug use”, an inquest has heard.

Jerome Rosemond, 46 and of Glen Road, Boscombe, died in Royal Bournemouth Hospital on April 26 following health complications.

Speaking at his inquest opening on Thursday, May 4, coroner’s officer Pip Morgan said on April 10 Mr Rosemond was admitted to hospital because of difficulty with his breathing.

She added: “He had a previous medical history of asthma, pleurisy endocarditis, pneumonia and abscesses.

“On this occasion he had abscesses drained from his back and he was treated for electrolyte deficiency, but suddenly continued to deteriorate and died on April 26.”

According to the coroner’s office, it has not been possible to work out where Mr Rosemond is from or if he was married or had a job.

He was formally identified by a doctor.

A cause of death was recorded by consultant in respiratory medicine Dr Nilusha Ramira as “sepsis due to infective endocarditis due to intravenous drug use”.

Dorset coroner Richard Middleton adjourned the inquest for a final hearing, expected on October 18.
