TEDDY, the son of British folk-rock legends Richard and Linda Thompson, is set to break through to the mainstream with this, his self-proclaimed "pop album".
Why, he even sat alongside Bill and Sian on the BBC Breakfast sofa. It's more upbeat than Separate Ways, for example, with a nice line in irony, as on What's This?!! ("am I happy or something?") There are some absolutely gorgeous tracks, not least the single In My Arms, and Thompson's voice is probably stronger here than before, but it may not be his best collection of songs - although it's very much a record that grows on you.
Teddy's voice has been compared with Rufus Wainwright (who appears on this album) and Neil Finn - this is a disc with a classic feel.
