THE Professional Darts Corpora-tion (PDC) has not ruled out a return to Bournemouth after the town failed to feature in the list of venues for next season's Whyte and Mackay Premier League.
The Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) had hosted Premier League darts since 2006 and the event proved a great success, with sell-out crowds turning out to watch the sport's biggest names.
Last year's tournament saw some thrilling action, with the legendary Phil Taylor whitewashing Wayne Mardle 8-0, while Peter Manley got in on the act with a 160 checkout.
But the Dorset venue has been overlooked in next year's list, with the Westpoint Arena, Exeter and Highland Hall in Edinburgh introduced as new dates on the league's calendar.
In a statement issued to the Daily Echo yesterday, the PDC said: "The BIC has been a very successful venue for us in the past three years. We've enjoyed bringing the event to Bournemouth.
"Lots of towns and cities in the UK want the event and, in the interest of fairness, we're taking the Whyte and Mackay Premier League darts elsewhere in 2009.
"However, we can't rule out bringing the event back to Bournemouth in the future."
Darts fans in the south still have the opportunity to watch the Premier League, with fixtures being hosted in Brighton, as well as Exeter.
Venues for 2010 will be reviewed again at the end of next season.
