POOLE council has launched its annual competition to find the town's top tourism business' and business people.
Now in its sixth year, The Palms', is sponsored by local commercial property agents, surveyors and town planners Sibbett Gregory.
"The standard of Poole's tourism industry continues to grow in quality and we are delighted to help recognise those who strive to enhance Poole's reputation for its tourism product," explained director Jonathan Sibbett.
"The Palm awards reflect the commitment of local businesses to work in partnership with tourism to make the town a leading resort for both visitors and residents.
"The special awards reflect the importance of some of the smaller businesses and individuals who have contributed to the tourism product in a unique and individual way, and provide some of the hidden gems of tourism".
Bruce Grant-Braham, chairman of Poole Tourism management board, added:
"These awards recognise excellence and achievement in the town and endorse the importance and success of The Poole Tourism management board in bringing together local businesses and the local authority to work as a partnership to promote a dynamic product."
This year there are four Palm' awards up for grabs:
- Tourism Personality of the Year - someone who has contributed significantly to the Tourism industry in Poole, displaying a range of skills and attributes such as, dynamism and innovation
- Tourism Promotion of the Year - activity/campaign which has demonstrated excellence and innovation in promoting Poole and generated extensive audience reaction
- Tourism Development of the Year - a development that has identified and exploited opportunities that benefit and contribute to the tourism product and local community.
- Long Term Personal Contribution to Tourism in Poole - A special award presented to an individual who has had significant past achievements in the Tourism industry in Poole, raising standards, expectations and acting with vision.
The winners will be announced at a presentation lunch on Thursday September 25 at Hytes restaurant Harbour Heights.
