A MAN has been released on bail after a man was stabbed in an alleged assault.

As reported, Dorset Police received a report that a man had received suspected stab wounds following an assault near to St Andrew’s Church in Millhams Road.

The victim, aged in his 30s, was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening by the ambulance service.

A 35-year-old man from Bournemouth was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm after the incident at around 1.10pm yesterday, May 20.

He has now been released on police bail while enquiries continue.

Detectives investigating the alleged assault in Bournemouth are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Detective constable Matthew Putt, of BCP CID, said: “A full investigation into this matter is underway, led by detectives from BCP CID, and a cordon was put in place at the scene.

“Following initial enquiries, it is believed that the victim and the arrested man are known to each other.

“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area and saw what happened to please get in touch.

“In particular, I understand there may have been a number of vehicles in a car park at the rear of the church at the time of the incident and I would ask any motorists with information to help my investigation to please contact Dorset Police.

“There will be an increased policing presence in the vicinity and officers can be approached by members of the public with information or concerns.”
