FIREFIGHTERS have tackled a heath fire in Wimborne.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to a heath fire on the Cannon Hill Plantation in Wimborne.
Crews from Wimborne, Poole, and Verwood were mobilised to extinguish the fire at 7.25 pm on May 27, 2024.
The fire measured approximately 30m x 20m and was extinguished using beaters, backpacks and a hose reel jet.
A DWFRS spokesperson said: “Initially, the first crew from Wimborne was sent, but then they contacted Control by radio to ask for a heavy off-road appliance and two land rovers fitted with firefighting equipment.
“This meant that the second crew from Wimborne were despatched along with firefighting land rover crews from Poole and Verwood.”
