Law-breakers in Charminster will run the risk of being caught on camera from October and in neighbouring Winton CCTV cameras will go live by the end of the year.
The new cameras in Bournemouth's suburbs will form part of the borough council's £2.2 million investment in the town's CCTV system.
Figures show that in June this year 33 arrests were made and 76 people charged with various offences including assault, theft and criminal damage, as a result of CCTV evidence.
Twenty-four of those arrests were as a direct result of calls made by CCTV operators based at the Town Hall to the police.
Barrie Clark, the council's highways asset manager, technical Services, told the Daily Echo: "Work on the CCTV system in Charminster is progressing and is due to go live at the end of October.
"The poles have been erected in readiness for the cameras and we are currently working on the cabling and linking up of the system before the cameras are installed."
Martyn Webster, Dorset police's CCTV liaison officer said: "We will continue to use CCTV evidence to make Bournemouth even safer for residents and visitors."
Cllr David Smith, cabinet member for community, said: "Bournemouth council is committed to tackling crime and the CCTV system plays a vital role in ensuring people feel safe.
"Our investment in the CCTV cameras is paying off, thanks to the dedication of the camera operators and the action of the police.
"We will continue to work with police in order to ensure a safer Bournemouth for everyone."
