ENQUIRIES continue into the stabbing on Durley Chine Beach which left one woman dead, and another seriously injured.

The county force received a report at 11.42pm on Friday 24 May 2024 that two people had been stabbed on Durley Chine Beach.

A 34-year-old woman from Poole named Amie Gray on social media died at the scene.

Another woman – 38 years old and also from Poole – sustained serious injuries and is still receiving treatment in hospital.

Detective Superintendent Richard Dixey, of the Major Crime Investigation Team, said: “There are significant resources deployed to this investigation to identify the person responsible and ensure the public remains safe and secure.

“We are proactively pursuing a number of active lines of enquiry and intelligence and are working tirelessly to piece together the tragic circumstances of the night, with house-to-house enquiries continuing in the area.

“I would like to reiterate our appeal to anyone with information about this incident, or the identity of the person responsible, to contact Dorset Police.

“There remains an enhanced and visible policing presence in the area with our staff working alongside partners from BCP Council to provide contact with our communities at a time of inevitable concern.

“We would continue to strongly encourage anyone with concerns to please speak to any officer who will be able to listen and provide appropriate advice.

“Specially-trained officers are continuing to update the family of the woman who very sadly lost her life, as well as the surviving victim, and our thoughts remain with them throughout all that we do.

“The cordon on Durley Chine Beach has now been lifted, but there are still scenes in place in the surrounding areas to allow for further forensic examination as we continue to conduct extensive enquiries.”
