A large pine tree branch has fallen off a tree on a Bournemouth road and blocked the carriageway.

Knyverton Road, Bournemouth has been blocked by a large pine tree branch that has split off the tree.

Cars have taken to the pavement to pass the branch which spreads from both sides of the pavement and creates a safety risk due to hanging on by a thread over the pavement.

A resident on Knyverton Road said he 'heard a bang' and turned around initially not seeing the branch in the road before noticing it as he got closer.

Several residents have taken to contact BCP Council and emergency services with both police and fre reported to have taken calls on the matter.

The road is yet to be closed by Police with residents expressing a want for a quick reaction due to the dangerous nature of the branch.

Another resident stated that it is not uncommon for branches of this size to block Knyverton Road with a similar example happening a few years earlier.

The Echo has approached BCP Council, Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service and Dorset Police for further information.
