AT nearly two hours long this formulaic family film goes on a bit, so much so that after 90 minutes I started to nod off.
However, when I awoke (having missed nothing), unlikely and comical guest appearances from Michael Schumacher and Zinedine Zidane made sure I didn't close my eyes again.
Yet as a family film this was really not bad.
It follows the fortunes of Gaul Alafolix, who falls head over heels for the beautiful Greek princess, Irina. But to win her hand, he must also win the Olympic games, and overcome Caesar's cheating son, Brutas - even with the help of Asterix and Obelix this is a big ask.
It's predictable and long, yet rather likeable.
