KFC has confirmed its Ferndown branch will reopen months after it closed.

The Ferndown branch of the fast food chain shut its doors for good in September

Despite fears the closure would create another abandoned unit in the area, KFC has reassured chicken fans that it will return very soon.

A spokesperson for KFC said: “Fear not KFC fans of Ferndown! The rumours are true, our Ringwood Road coop will be re-opening soon.

The restaurant, which also has a drive-thru, has been closed since it shut its doors on September 30.

People had hoped the closure was temporary and it would be back open soon, with many hungry diners pulling up outside wanting their fix of chicken.

Its return has been hotly anticipated with one resident creating an April Fools post on April 1 about the store reopening leaving many excited only to realise it wasn't true.

However, just weeks on from April 1, keen eyes had noticed KFC Ferndown had released new job vacancies and had begun to get excited once again.

The KFC was the third national business to close in Ferndown in September 2023 after both Wilko and Wetherspoon pub The Nightjar had also closed doors.

Only KFC looks likely to return at this point with many disappointed by the closure of The Nightjar which received 1,400 signatures on a petition which planned to help keep it open.

Wetherspoon responded that it was 'very grateful' for the customers over the past 24 years but said it made a decision not to renew the lease.

KFC had also previously expressed plans to expand in Bournemouth town centre, taking over the unit at Immaculate Chaos Tattoo Studio in Christchurch Road.

These plans were opposite a former KFC restaurant which closed on Lansdowne Roundabout.

This was met by objections from businesses Mail Boxes Etc and Eaters Pizza to the council as this would have ousted them from their existing location.

KFC has branches in Castlepoint in Bournemouth, Tower Park in Poole along with Winton high street in Wimborne Road.
