THOUSANDS of people covered Poole’s Baiter Park in pink as they turned out for Race for Life.
Runners took part in the 10k, 5k, 3k or a Pretty Muddy obstacle course in aid of Cancer Research on June 1.
The annual event sees over 2,000 people take part in the races while raising over £120,000 for the cause.
Amy Gooch was running alongside her friend, Zoe Torevelle, and was taking part for her late nan who passed away two years ago and her grandfather who battled cancer.
“She asked if I wanted to do the race for life with her, and I thought it would be the 5k, but no she wanted to do the 10k,” Zoe joked.
“Go big or go home,” said Amy.
Running fanatic sisters, India and Florence Hudson took part with friend Elysia Dayman, and said they enjoyed the race and atmosphere.
“Everyone is somehow effected by cancer,” said Elysia.
She added: “The race has been great, no one cares how fast you run and the morale is very high.”
Lorraine Haywood, Danni Shirley and Angela Taylor, from Steppin’ Out Academy completed the 10k race for friend Sarah Chivers who will be ringing the bell to celebrate the end of her cancer treatment next week.
Sarah said the women are from her daughters’ dance school and that they are “amazing.”
