POOLE Lighthouse has confirmed that American singer  Alexander O'Neal has cancelled his farewell tour performance at the last minute.

American R&B singer  Alexander O'Neal  has cancelled his Time to Say Goodbye: Farewell World Tour performance at Lighthouse, Poole on June 4 at the last minute, the venue has confirmed.

Expected to begin at 7:30pm, Lighthouse has blamed 'unforseen circumstances' and apologised for any disappointment caused.

A spokesperson for Lighthouse said: "Unfortunately, this evening's (Tuesday 4 June) 7.30pm performance of Alexander O'Neal: Time To Say Goodbye - The Farewell Tour has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. We apologise for any inconvenience or disappointment caused."

O'Neal has spent five decades within the music industry with the performance said to be a journey through his career with never-seen photos, testimonies, and tributes to the tune of his most famous songs.

Known for hits such as 'Criticize', 'Fake', and 'If You Were Hear Tonight', O'Neil had announced 20 dates in the UK leg of his tour with Poole the penultimate performance before he performed in Royal Albert Hall in London on June 7.

Fans have expressed their disappointment on social media with one ticket holder 'gutted' to have missed him but said that she 'hopes he is ok'.

Lighthouse has stated that it will be in touch with ticket holders in due course.
