WORKS to repair the pontoon at Mudeford Sandbank are due to start Monday – three weeks after initially proposed.
The pontoon at the harbourside beach of Mudeford Sandbank suffered ‘significant damage’ during Storm Ciara.
It has meant the Mudeford Ferry, which operates between Mudeford Quay and Mudeford Sandbank, has been out of action since November last year.
On Friday, June 7, Mudeford Ferry operators posted on social media: “No Mudeford Ferry this weekend.
“New pontoon works should start Monday.”
The operators also said when the workmen arrive on site, they will be able to provide a timescale for completion.
Works on the Mudeford Ferry pontoon were originally due to commence on Monday, May 20, with plans to resume all ferry services this month.
The operators wrote on social media back on Saturday, May 18: “A local notice to mariners has been issued advising works to begin on the Mudeford Beach Pontoon week commencing 20th May 2024.”
This did not go ahead.
