TOBIAS Ellwood has launched his bid to be re-elected in next month’s general election.
The Conservative candidate for Bournemouth East launched his campaign on Bournemouth beach with his name dug on the sand.
Mr Ellwood, a lieutenant colonel, was first elected in 2005 and has previously been the chair of the defence select committee.
Joining him on his campaign launch on the sand was fellow senior Dorset Tories, including Cllr Phil Broadhead and recently re-elected police and crime commissioner David Sidwick.
Mr Ellwood said: “Thank you to Lord Jeffrey Archer for helping launch my election campaign in Bournemouth East.”
He has been vocal against a number of BCP Council-related issues lately, including its axing of funding for the air festival, Kings Park Nursery and Blue Flag awards and the potholes in many of the roads as well as the 20mph speed limits.
The 57-year-old married father of two will stand against a number of other people bidding for a job in Westminster.
It includes Labour’s Tom Hayes, Green’s Joe Salmon, Independent Kieron Wilson, Lib Dem’s Jon Martin Nicholas and Reform’s Martin James Houlden.
Voters will go to the polls on Thursday, July 4.
