CHRISTCHURCH’s parliamentary election hustings will take place later this month ahead of the general election on July 4.
GodFirst Church in Somerford will be hosting the free to attend event at 7pm on June 28, promising resident the opportunity to hear the view of the candidates standing for the Christchurch constituency.
Revd. Chris Brockway, of Christchurch Baptist Church and lead organiser, said: “Hustings are public meetings where election candidates speak to potential voters.
“They are a great way to hear directly from the candidates and to ask them questions about the issues you care about.
“We have invited each standing candidate, or a representative thereof, to attend the event. Having organised a Hustings for the past four parliamentary elections, we are confident that it will be both lively and informative.”
Susan Graham, Green Party candidate, said: “I feel honoured to be a parliamentary candidate for Christchurch, and would like to express how delighted I am to be taking part in the Christchurch Churches parliamentary hustings."
Mike Cox, the Liberal Democrat candidate, added: “It’s great news that the churches have once again stepped up to organise this vitally important event.
“I am very much looking forward to this husting with a robust, entertaining and sensible debate.”
