A SMALL boat beached itself on the shores in Sandbanks.
Poole lifeboat station were called to the 19ft vessel that had become stuck in Sandbanks on Sunday afternoon, June 9.
Four people who were onboard had sent out a Mayday after taking on water.
En route further information came though that the vessel had been beached and the people were now ashore.
The lifeboat arrived on scene and dropped two crew ashore to conduct a welfare check. The boaters were described as “well but a little shaken”.
The volunteer crew assisted with laying an anchor and handed over care to Poole Coastguard rescue team.
With no further assistance required the lifeboat returned to station and was refuelled and ready for service by 1.30pm.
Poole Helm Kitty said: “They made the right decision to broadcast a Mayday and then beach the boat to keep everyone safe.
“I’m pleased my first shout as helm is complete and thanks to my crew for their support.”
This was the 36th launch in 2024 for the Poole volunteers.
