A CHRISTCHURCH school has been 'rated' good in its first full Ofsted inspection in over a decade.
Twynham School has been rated 'good' by Ofsted across all areas in its most recent report with students noted to have 'positive attitudes' to learning and that the school has 'raised expectations of pupils' behaviour'.
The report was made following an inspection in May and is the school's first since 2013 which it had been rated 'outstanding'.
Associate Headteacher Kate Ball said: “I would like to thank staff, students and parents for your commitment, hard work, and support. Together, we are dedicated to providing all students in our community with the best opportunities for their future.
"By embodying our trust values of equality, humility, and community, we create an environment where every student can thrive and succeed."
Ofsted recognised in the report Tywnham's efforts to help pupils with special education needs and/or disabilities.
It said the school has made 'suitable adaptations' while making sure pupil's needs are identified and assessed.
Ofsted said: "The school makes suitable adaptations to the curriculum for most pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). It has recently strengthened its work
to ensure that all pupils’ needs are identified and assessed accurately. Teachers usually make good use of the information they are provided to support pupils with SEND.”
The school has been told it needs to make improvements in some subjects as pupils 'do not build sufficient depth in their understanding or write in detail'.
Ofsted stated this is due to the school not consistently identifying gaps in pupils' knowledge and skills.
said: "I am delighted with Twynham’s Ofsted report which quite rightly praises the school’s curriculum, culture, sixth form provision, the wide-ranging programme of extra- curricular activities and careers advice, which together prepares students for their future.
Matthew Woodville, Executive Headtecaher of Twynham School & The Grange School said: "The hard work that is being put in every day by Kate and the Team is evident to see in this report.
"The inspection confirms our internal evaluations of the school’s strengths and areas for improvement. I am confident that we will continue to improve and achieve even greater success.”
