A MAN is due to appear at court accused of assaulting a man at a boxing match. 

Several crowd fights broke out at the Vitality Stadium while it hosted the hugely successful boxing event involving Chris Billam-Smith on Saturday, May 27, 2023. 

During one of the incidents, a man in his 30s sustained a serious injury to his ear that required hospital treatment. 

Following enquiries, Bournemouth resident Craig Edward Johnstone was arrested in connection with the incident.  

The 48-year-old has now been issued with a postal requisition to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Friday, June 14 for offences of wounding with intent and affray.
