AN organisation is helping to promote sustainable hydration with a free tap water stand at a Bournemouth festival.

Litter Free Dorset has announced its participation in the Bournemouth Reggae Weekender, where it will be providing free tap water to all festival-goers, supplied by Bournemouth Water.

The organisation hopes to set an example of sustainable event practices and inspire other festivals to follow suit.

Rachel Kasujja, Bournemouth Reggae Weekender's head of marketing, said: “The support of Litter Free Dorset and Bournemouth Water not only enhances the overall experience for our attendees but also reflects our commitment to fostering a sense of community and environmental responsibility.”

Emma Teasdale, Litter Free Dorset project officer, said: “We are thrilled to be collaborating with the organisers of the Reggae Weekender, who are working hard to reduce the environmental impact of their event.

"Providing free tap water and encouraging festival-goers to bring their own bottle is a simple action that event organisers can take to empower their customers and prioritise sustainability.

"We hope other events will look to the Bournemouth Reggae Weekender as a shining example."

Richard Stanbrook, Bournemouth Water’s director of drinking water services, said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Litter Free Dorset to supply free drinking water at this year’s Bournemouth Reggae Weekender.

"By doing so, we’ll be helping to eliminate single-use plastics whilst keeping everyone well hydrated during what promises to be a fantastic event full of great music.”

Bournemouth Reggae Weekender is taking place at Kings Park on July 26, 27 and 28.
