PIRATES chief Matt Ford has confirmed Mark Lemon as their new number eight from today.
Lemon, who rides for Reading in the Premier League, takes the place of Somerset's Jordan Frampton.
The Australian is eligible to line up for Poole Castle Cover if one of their reserves is unavailable.
Lemon can also turn out for the Elite League title-chasing Dorset club to cover for injuries or unavailability to any of Pirates' one to five.
Ford said: "This is no reflection on Jordan's riding ability. He's performed very well for us when required this season.
"But Jordan always knew we might bring in another rider to be on standby as number eight in case of injuries and unavailability.
"Now Mark's average (3.81) has fallen below our reserve Daniel Davidsson (4.16) from September 1, we've been able to do that by bringing Mark into our squad."
