A SUPERMARKET will expand its ‘popular’ café after plans were given the go-ahead by council planners.
BCP Council planners have given approval to Waitrose’s plans for its Parkstone store.
This will see new customer doors installed and the façade of the shop refurbished, with all window frames resprayed and new window vinyls added to the shopfront doors.
The café inside the store, in Ashley Road, Poole, will be expanded from 41 to 62 covers.
A spokesperson for the supermarket previously said that the café is ‘popular’ with customers, and that the business is ‘keen to refresh its offering where it can’.
The plans will see the café given a ‘fresh feel’, the spokesperson said, with new flooring and furniture.
Customers will also be able to chose from a wider range of food and drink at the bigger café, the spokesperson added.
Elsewhere in the store, the car park will be refurbished to improve safety, with clearer signs and painted walkways.
The supermarket said there would be ‘minimal disruption’ to customers while the work was carried out.
Council officers approved the plans subject to conditions.
