A DAUGHTER reported her mum to police for drink driving after "fleeing" the car in fear.

The mum, from Poole, was arrested and admitted the offence before Bournemouth Magistrates yesterday.

Kelly Murror, prosecuting, told the court: "At 9.30pm on August 12 police received a report from the defendant's daughter her mother was driving under the influence of alcohol.

"The daughter had been in the vehicle but was so scared for her own safety she fled the vehicle while it was stopped at traffic lights, as she was on the wrong side of the road."

Another daughter was still in the car.

"The daughter said she was scared for her sister's safety and the defendant's safety," said the prosecutor.

"Police found the defendant's car at home and when they went to the door, shouting could be heard. The defendant was arrested.

"She was abusive and shouted at the officers that she had the car keys and she wasn't driving."

The daughters' ages were given as 14 and 15, though it was not said which had fled the car.

The mum, 35, gave a breath test of 74mg of alcohol compared to the limit of 35mg. She admitted drinking three bottles of wine with a friend.

"She told the police in interview that she was ashamed at what she had done, and that she had placed her life and her daughters' lives at risk," said the prosecutor.

Terry Scanlon, defending, said the mother had been making a "mercy dash" to try and stop her brother taking an overdose of drugs.

He asked for a court hearing to make a special reasons argument' in the hope his client will be allowed to keep her driving licence.

The hearing has been fixed for 10am on October 17 at Poole Magistrates and sentencing will take place afterwards.
