A MAN has appeared in court after being found with more than 1000 indecent images of children over a five-year period.

Peter Sprake-Follett, 71 and of Alma Road, Bournemouth, pleaded guilty to three charges of making indecent photographs of a child at Poole Magistrates Court on June 14.

Prosecutor, Victoria Hill, said police received information which prompted a search at the defendant’s address.

Officers found devices containing 1,015 category C images, 26 category B and 54 of the most serious, category A.

The charges relate to a time period between January 30, 2018 and July 19, 2023.

However, Ms Hill said in a police interview the defendant admitted to possessing images on and off for more than ten years.

She added that there is a high volume of images with a large number of different victims.

Mitigating, Mr Legg, said the defendant made admissions straight away and is both genuinely remorseful and horrified of his actions.

Magistrates, Dr Marion Mackey, Mrs Christie Squibb and Mr Jon Hussey were in agreement that the matter was too serious to be dealt with in the magistrates court and referred it to be dealt with at crown court.

Sprake-Follett will next attend Bournemouth Crown Court on July, 12, 2024 at 10am.
