A ‘JOYOUS’ school has been rated as ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted.
Bournemouth School for Girls received the rating across all five inspected categories and maintained its ‘outstanding’ rating from its previous inspection in 2012.
Inspectors found behaviour of pupils at the school was ‘impeccable’ and the curriculum was ‘highly ambitious’.
The report said: “Bournemouth School for Girls is a joyous place.
“Pupils flourish academically and socially.
“They are passionate about their learning and embrace the multitude of wider development opportunities that the school provides.”
Leadership opportunities ‘abound’ at the school, the report said.
“Pupils feel empowered, even if they do not have formal leadership roles,” it said.
“Events that bring the school and local community together, such as sporting and robotics activities for local primary schools, are led by pupils.”
Headteacher David Sims said: “I am delighted that the inspectors recognised not only our academic excellence but also the broad and holistic education that is facilitated by an experienced and committed staff body.
“I’d like to thank the parents who took time to express their views openly and extensively with inspectors and also the headteachers within the BCP region who provided invaluable support before and during the inspection.
“Above all, I am extremely proud of our students: they exemplify our ethos of hard work, kindness and ambition and remain the best advertisement for our school.
“Whilst it is gratifying to receive such positive feedback from Ofsted, we are not complacent and we shall continue to seek improvement in all areas in order to fulfil our aim of facilitating ‘the best for our students, the best from our students.”
Paul Fitzpatrick, the school’s chair of governors, said: “The report acknowledges that BSG is highly effective in delivering outcomes that provide exceptionally well for all its pupils’ needs, ensuring they are well equipped for the next stage of their education.
“The report also confirms that all members of the BSG community understand the vision of the school and that this vision is achieved because of outstanding leadership at all levels within the school.
“This latest recognition again puts the school in a position amongst the UK’s elite of ‘outstanding’ education providers.”
