A MAN has appeared in court after assaulting, controlling and coercing a partner.

Shaun Stubbs, 45, appeared at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Friday, June 14, charged with multiple offences.

He admitted assault by beating after assaulting his partner in Amethyst Road in Christchurch on September 28, 2023.

He also admitted engaging in controlling/coercive behaviour in an intimate/family relationship.

Court records show that between September 1, 2023, and March 20, 2024, Stubbs ‘continuously’ engaged in behaviour which was controlling or coercive towards his partner.

He took and monitored her mobile phone and social media, questioned her clothing choices and the people she met, and continually contacted her.

The defendant admitted four charges of breaching a non-molestation order, relating to offences involving the partner between November 4, 2023, and February 23, 2024.

Stubbs also admitted using threatening/abusive/insulting words/behaviour with intent to cause fear of/provoke unlawful violence towards another male in Amethyst Road in Christchurch on February 24.

Stubbs, of Southill Road in Bournemouth, was handed a community order lasting until December 13, 2025, with rehabilitation activity requirements.

He was also fined £100.
