A MAN has been arrested after robbing a petrol station at knifepoint.
Officers and an armed response unit were alerted to reports of a robbery this morning at Asda Express in Bournemouth where a man took items without paying while holding a knife.
A 43-year-old man from Bournemouth has been arrested in connection with the incident.
After extensive enquiries, he was further arrested for an offence at a different convenience store earlier in the day.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “We received a report at 7.11am on Monday 17 June 2024 of a robbery at Asda Express in Castle Lane West in Bournemouth. It is reported that a man entered the shop and took several items while in possession of a knife.
“Officers conducted a thorough search of the area in which a 43-year-old man from Bournemouth was quickly located and arrested on suspicion of robbery.
“He was later further arrested in connection with an earlier offence, which reportedly took place at 6.36am at the Co-op store in Castle Lane West.
“Fortunately, there were no reports of any injuries during either incident. Detectives are continuing to make enquiries into the circumstances of both incidents.
“Dorset Police will continue to take a full and robust stance to reports of knife crime in the community.
