ARMED POLICE swarmed an area of Southbourne after reports of a man in possession of a dangerous weapon.
Residents looked in shock as officers stormed a property on Fisherman’s Avenue.
A police helicopter was also seen circling above the scene.
Now, a man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of drug offences and possession of an offensive weapon.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “Dorset Police received a report at 2.13pm on Monday 17 June 2024 of a man in possession of a weapon inside an address in Fisherman’s Avenue in Bournemouth.
“Officers attended and carried out searches of the area, assisted by the NPAS helicopter.
“A man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and drugs offences and they are assisting officers with their enquiries.
“No injuries have been reported.
“Enquiries will be carried out to establish the full circumstances of the incident. Officers from the local neighbourhood policing team are aware and can be approached by anyone with concerns.”
