A MAN is due to stand trial following the death of a dog last summer.
Andrew Robert Claridge-Fleming is accused of confining two dogs in a vehicle during hot weather, which resulted in the ill health of one and the death of the other.
The incident allegedly occurred at the defendant’s home address of Ashley Manor Farm in Lymington Road, New Milton, on August 3, 2023.
The two dogs were a fox red Labrador known as Milo and a male working Cocker Spaniel known as Rocky, court records show.
Claridge Fleming, 56, appeared at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, June 13, for offences of causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal, and not taking steps as were reasonable in all the circumstances to ensure that the needs of an animal for which he was responsible, contrary to the Animal Welfare Act 2006.
The case was sent to Bournemouth Crown Court for trial on July 11.
Claridge Fleming was released on bail.
