FANCY getting out on the water for the summer – and being paid to do it?

Dorset Council is currently advertising for a seasonal harbour assistant at West Bay and Lyme Regis harbours paying up to £12.39 an hour.

At the other end of the pay scale the council’s job site is also advertising for a primary school head teacher in Weymouth at up to £83,000.

A brief outline of duties for the harbour posts includes collecting dues, advising harbour users, cleaning and maintaining slipways and steps and completing harbour safety inspections, with the post-holder needing to be experienced in marine activities.

Other Dorset Council current vacancies being advertised by the authority include roles in the housing team paying up to £34,000; planning officers up to £37,300; a Dorset Waste driver paying up to £26,400; a highways officer up to £57,300; an approved mental health professional in Dorchester paying up to £47,400 and various adult social worker roles across the county paying up to £43,400; with a Youth Practitioner vacancy at up to £30,300.

Schools across the county are currently advertising teacher posts paying up to £41,300 or up to £52,000 for a head of department or specialist teachers and up to £66,600 for a deputy headteacher with up to £83,000 available for a Weymouth primary school head vacancy; teaching assistant posts are available up to £23,500; ground staff in schools up to £23,500 and part time cleaning jobs in school up to £8,750 a year.

Dorset Police is also advertising -  for a budgets and project officer, paying up to £27,800 and up to £45,500 for an ICT Technical Security lead; while the chance to be deputy town clerk at Wareham Town Council is paying up to £36,650 for those suitably qualified for the role.
