A BOMB squad has cordoned off a beach in Studland after a possible WW2 explosive was found.
Dorset Police were called to Knoll Beach at 10am on June 19 to assist with a cordon and send the explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) unit.
National Trust, who maintain the beach, confirmed that an explosive device has been found.
World War Two ordnance are occasionally found in Studland and the public are warned not to touch or move an item if suspected.
A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “We received a report at 10am on Wednesday 19 June 2024 requesting assistance with a cordon at Knoll Beach in Studland.
“Officers are in attendance and EOD are on scene.”
A National Trust spokesperson said: “We confirm a piece of ordnance has been found at Knoll Beach this morning (19 June 2024), resulting in a section of the area being cordoned off.
“The EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) team have been called to attend the incident.
“WW11 ordnance may occasionally be found on Studland.
“Anyone finding anything must not remove or touch it but note the location using ‘What3words’ and report immediately to the Police 999 or any member of NT staff.”
