A BOY has been arrested after a video of a teenager being attacked at a bus station was widely spread on social media.
It was reported that at around 3.30pm on Thursday, June 13, a boy was assaulted at Poole bus station by another male who was known to him.
The boy was taken to hospital after sustaining injuries to his head.
A 17-year-old boy has since been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, but has been released on police bail while the investigation continues.
Police are warning the public not to share footage of the assault on social media due to live investigations but to report any information to the police. A spokesperson for Dorset Police said:
“We are aware of a video on social media showing a reported assault at Poole bus station on Thursday 13 June 2024. An investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
“It is reported that at around 3.30pm, a teenage boy was assaulted by a male teenager who is known to him. The victim attended hospital for treatment to injuries to his head.
“Following enquiries by officers, a 17-year-old boy from Bournemouth was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He has been released on police bail while the investigation continues.
“From what we know so far, this was a targeted incident that involves people who are known to each other.
“We do not condone any reports of violence and would like to reassure that an investigation is ongoing into this incident.
“Officers from the local neighbourhood policing team will be patrolling in the area and can be approached by anyone with information or concerns.
“This incident is subject to a live investigation and we would ask anyone with information, including footage, relating to this case to please report it to us quoting occurrence number 55240089296. We would also ask that footage is not shared on social media and there is no speculation online about what happened.”
