DAVE Briggs' chance to shine in the pick-up truck race at Brands Hatch was badly dented when the Bournemouth driver was forced to start from the back of the grid after breaking a gearbox seal.
However, Briggs made up two places before completing the first lap of the 1.9km Indy circuit. By the end of lap two he was up to eighth place following a determined drive which netted him another two places before the chequered flag to take sixth overall.
Sunday's second race saw Briggs starting in a more favourable sixth on the grid and looking good for a podium finish. Unfortunately that was not to be as an oil line broke on lap one forcing a rare retirement.
After eight rounds of the championship, Briggs remains in sixth place overall with the next round taking place on the 1.5 mile oval at Rockingham in Corby on September 27 and 28.
