A PUPPY from the New Forest has become the 9,000th dog to enrol in a Dog's Trust study.

The Golden Retriever, named Digby, joined the Generation Pup study where dogs are followed throughout their lifetime.

The unique study, founded in 2016, aims to discover how early life experiences, genetics, and environment impact a dog's health, welfare and behaviour.

Digby's owner Chris, is thrilled to be involved, and said: "It's such a worthwhile survey, and hopefully, it will do a lot of good once the results are processed."

The Trust hopes to reach their target of 10,000 dogs by the end of 2024.

Dr Jane Murray from Dogs Trust stated: "We are very proud to have welcomed our 9,000th puppy into the Generation Pup study."

She added: "The more puppies enrolled into this study, the more likely we are to have a better understanding of our canine friends."

The study is open to puppies under 16 weeks old across the UK and Republic of Ireland.
