A WOMAN was cut out of a vehicle after becoming ‘medically trapped’ in a single-vehicle crash.

She was removed using a spinal board with help from the fire service.

Motorists were urged to avoid the area.

The road was closed whilst emergency services dealt with the incident and delays are expected to remain in the area.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “We received a report at 3.55pm of a single-vehicle collision at the Mountbatten Roundabout on Ringwood Road in Poole.

“Officers have attended, along with the ambulance service, and road closures have been put in place.”

A spokesperson for DWFRS said: “We are currently in attendance at a one-vehicle road traffic collision on Ringwood Road, Poole, following a 999 call at 4pm.

“We have crews from Poole and Redhill Park on the scene, and the stop has just come in at 5.05pm, confirming that one female casualty has been removed from the vehicle into the care of the ambulance service after the car roof was cut off.”

Morebus also posted on its social media to warn passengers: "Closure of High Howe / Ringwood Road due to serious RTC.

"Buses towards Wimborne / Ringwood are diverting via Wallisdown, Kinson Road, Turbary Park and Poole Lane to High Howe Lane."

Following the incident, an update from Dorset Police read: "The road reopened at around 5.40pm yesterday. The driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries."
